The “pattern” for this gored skirt is courtesy of Amy McNight who provides the mathematical formula to design a custom gored skirt for yourself. I am forever grateful to Amy for doing the math so that I don’t have to!
This project was my proof of concept that a slightly flared skirt could be achieved using vintage narrow kimono fabric.
The pattern for the blouse came from my taking a blouse I owned and using it as a base model. Of course, due to the 14.5 inch kimono fabric I had to build the blouse in more pieces than would normally be required. Though this blouse sort of worked there are several modifications I will use on future designs. First, I will use the softest silks from my collection as Michiyuki fabric is stiff to give it water resistance. This inherent stiffness makes it difficult to achieve the drape I would prefer on a blouse.
